May 31, 906 AD at ROLLWA by the "DENAREN SWORD BLOW" in accordance with SALIC LAW in solemn ceremony, KING LUDWIG III, elevated the first known JUDY ancestor, JOHANN I from serfdom to a FREEMAN and to the rank of NOBILITY and appointed him AMMAN (Chief Administrator) of Canton Glarus. The day 31st May is celebrated annually; One Thousand Year Jubilee was held in St. Gallen, Zurich, Bern and Basel May 31, 1906.
All generations start with JOHANN I von Glarus.

Note: Death date unknown. He fled to Canton Basel (Baselland on the Rhine) in 1285 A.D. because of the high taxes and the terrible persecutions by the Austrian Governors then in power. He was on the Canton Glarus tax list in 1272 A.D. When Johannes V, reached Canton Basel with his family in 1285, A.D., he became a citizen there. He is the DIRECT ANCESTOR of the Author of this Book (Carlock) and many thousands of kinsmen in America and in Canton Basel, Switzerland.

On the record of Von Tschudi (XXIII), the following note was printed:
THE RECORDS OF THE PRECEDING EIGHT GENERATIONS WERE LOST OR DESTROYED BY FIRE, WAR OR OTHER CAUSES BEFORE 1547, A.D. BEGINNING WITH THE NEXT ANCESTOR, HANS von TSCHUDI I, WE WISH TO STATE THAT THE AUTHOR (Carlock) WITH DIVINE GUIDANCE, THIRTY YEARS OF PAINSTAKING COSTLY RESEARCH WORK INCLUDING ONE EXPENSIVE TOUR OF SWITZERLAND IN 1930, FIRMLY AND HONESTLY BELIEVES THAT THE RELATIONSHIP OF OUR SWISS AND AMERICAN ANCESTORS AND KINSMEN HAS BEEN CORRECTLY SOLVED AND IDENTIFIED IN THE FOLLOWING FAMILY HISTORY AND GENEALOGY.

Note: He was the first ancestor to have a family Surname. The name "Schudi" is taken from the Latin "Judex" (Guidice), meaning "perfect" or "very good" and was bestowed on Heinrich I, when he was Feodary (Chief Military Officer) of the Royal Court ca. the year 1100, A.D. by the Abbess (Royal Lady) of the Seckingen Palace, Switz.

Name later was Herman I Von Glarus (VII), b 1050, Switzerland; d 1128, Switzerland.
