Personal and Family Information

Joseph was born about 1723 in Prince Edward, Virginia, USA, the son of Richard Holcombe II but his mother is unknown.

He died after 1810 in Laurens District, South Carolina, USA.

His wife was Sarah Unknown, who he married in 1751. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Elisha (c1760-c1805).

Note; Son of Richard Holcombe. His brother Benjamin moved to Union Co., SC (then Craven Co.) about 1770 and died there in 1795. Pg. 327 Of Holcombe genealogy by McPherson…Ira Holcombe’s lineage pp. 577-578. It is fairly certain that Nathan, Simpson, Ira V. were descended from Joseph; further research ahead to document his location and whether it paralleled his brother’s migration. Brent Holcombe, SC professional genealogist who researched this for Sid, is direct descendant of the Benjamin line---Brent Holcombe asserts that our kinship is 7th cousins or such.
